Virtual Design Coaching · For Real Homes, Anywhere

Your home should support the life you actually want to live.

I'm Susie Kuc, a design coach for homeowners with too many ideas and no idea what to do first. You send photos of your real rooms. I send back one clear plan — what to do first, what can wait, and what it'll cost — before you knock down a wall.

"Solutions we never would have thought of."— Lexie M., homeowner

Everything happens from photos of your real rooms — no showroom, no in-home visit, nothing to schedule. Your plan comes back in about a week.

Who this is for

You're in the right place if any of this sounds like your house.

These are the actual sentences homeowners say to me before we start.

  • "We have too many ideas." The kitchen, a mudroom, a guest space, a bonus room for the kids, that vanity that's falling apart — and every single one feels like it would eat the whole budget.
  • "We don't know what to do first." Not which one is biggest. Which one is next.
  • "We don't want to waste money." You work hard for it. The fear isn't spending — it's spending wrong and having to look at it every day.
  • "Nothing works in this room." Odd walls, a pass-through, a window in the wrong spot. Every picture you save is for somebody else's house.
  • "I want all the things." And you're tired of being told to want fewer of them.

Not one of those is a personality flaw. Every one of them is a planning problem — and planning problems have answers.

Susie at her kitchen table, laughing mid-conversation, a coffee mug in hand and a sketchbook of floor plans open in front of her.

Hi, I'm Susie

I've stood in a house full of little things that all needed something.

I know what it's like when your home stops being a reprieve and starts being one more thing on the list.

I lived in an 800-square-foot house where the king bed technically fit — on the one wall it could go on, next to the odd window. I stood in that house wondering: where do I even start? And how do I know I'm spending my hard-earned money right?

Here's what I finally figured out. There wasn't anything wrong with me. That house was built in 1920.

And there's nothing wrong with you, either.

I'm not a DIYer who found this later. I've been sanding, painting, cutting and demo-ing since I was fourteen — earlier, really — on remodels beside my dad, a master carpenter. Then a degree in Construction Science, more than 150 kitchens and 50 bathrooms professionally designed, and 3D renderings I draft myself in Chief Architect.

Stuck on your house?
Let's design a plan.

Think of me as a coach. I don't hand you my style. I help you find yours.

What changes with one clear plan

One clear plan turns forty open tabs into a decision you can act on.

1

Your ideas get sorted

The kitchen, the mudroom, the vanity, the bonus room — we sort out which ones actually matter for how your family really lives, and which ones were somebody else's idea of a good home.

2

You know what comes first

Not everything happens at once, and it doesn't have to. You get the order of operations — first versus later — so your money lands in the right place at the right time.

3

The second-guessing stops

You see the options and the tradeoffs side by side. So you decide once, feel good about it, and move — instead of wondering for two more years whether you got it right.

Why "This Giant Life"?

The name is a little bit literal.

Mitch is 6'5". I'm 6'.

The kids are growing like weeds.

And this is Zeus — our Great Dane, and the gentlest giant in the house.

But it means something bigger, too. A full, giant life — the kind you build on purpose. And your home is where it starts.

Lived, not learned from a catalog

I've been on job sites since I was fourteen.

Demo, sanding, painting, cutting — beside my dad, a master carpenter, long before I had a degree in Construction Science. It's why I know what a project actually costs and what it actually takes, and why the plan I hand you is one a real contractor can work from.

How it works

The Two-Design Remix™ Method

The Two-Design Remix™ Method is the process inside every Remix Clarity™ plan: we look at the budget version of your project and the dream version, then blend them into the one that fits your actual house. You send photos and answer a few questions — no appointment, no one walking through your home.

1

We look at the budget version.

What the practical, right-now plan looks like — built mostly from what you already have.

2

We look at the dream version.

The no-limits one. Not to tease you — because it tells us what you truly want, and why.

3

Then we remix them.

One plan that fits your family, your home, and the budget you have right now — unmistakably yours.

Budget version of Lexie's Scandinavian modern farmhouse kitchen in Sunderland, Massachusetts — existing sage-green cabinets kept and repainted, marble-look counters, a simple wood-topped island with one stool, and the original louvered pantry doors.
1

The budget version

Keep the cabinets. Repaint them. New counters, a simple island, and the doors that are already there. What's possible without starting over.

Dream version of the same Sunderland kitchen — new cabinet fronts with brass pulls, tile backsplash, a black stone island with seating for three, pendant lighting, and floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinetry replacing the louvered doors.
2

The dream version

New fronts and brass pulls, tile to the underside of the uppers, stone on the island, seating for three, and real pantry cabinetry where the louvered doors were.

The remix of the same Sunderland kitchen — original cabinets kept and painted sage with brass pulls, upper cabinets replaced by open wood shelving on a shiplap wall, a butcher-block island with seating, and the pantry doors panelled over.
3

The remix

Keep the cabinets and paint them. Trade the uppers for open shelving and shiplap. Butcher block instead of stone. Dream-version feel, budget-version bones.

A case study showing how the method works — Remix Clarity™ delivers a written plan and a video walkthrough, not custom 3D renderings.

You see it all — so you know you made the right call, instead of forever wondering.

How this compares

There are three ways people try to solve this. Here's what each one actually gives you.

All three are legitimate. They just answer different questions — and only one of them is built to tell you what to do first.

A quick honest note: AI is genuinely good, and you were right to try it. It answers the question you asked. Ask it for a basement remodel and you'll get a beautiful basement remodel — it never says "wait, don't," and it never asks about the hallway.

Proof

What homeowners say after working with Susie.

Five homeowners in their own words, Greenfield to Denver. Two of them used the same phrase without being asked.

“
Our living room is an odd shape, with no real walls to mount a TV, so we struggled to design a fully functional space for years before working with Susie. She quickly found a solution we would have never been able to come up with on our own. We love our living room!
— Cassie Parks, Founder of Buckets of Money Budget · Denver, CO · Summer 2022

I designed it from photos — Denver is about 2,000 miles from my kitchen table. I've stood in that living room since. It works.

“

Susie helped us get unstuck and create a plan that actually fit our budget. The changes she suggested helped us move forward with confidence because we finally knew what to do next.

“

We had lots of ideas but weren't sure what would actually work best for our home and budget. Susie helped us look at different options, understand the tradeoffs, and create a plan that felt both practical and achievable. We left feeling confident about our decisions instead of second-guessing them.

Back in your hands in about a week.

One clear plan, for your actual house

Remix Clarity™ is a plan built around your home — quirks, budget and all.

You upload photos of your real rooms. You fill out a questionnaire. Then I go to work on your house — the odd walls, the window in the "wrong" spot, the budget you actually have.

What comes back isn't more inspiration. It's a decision. What to do first, what can wait, and what it'll cost.

No appointment on your calendar. No tidying up before someone comes over. You send it when it works for you, and the plan comes back to you.

This isn't full-service decorating, and it isn't another Pinterest board. It's the thinking that happens before either one would be worth paying for.

I make the same whether your budget is $10,000 or $50,000. That's on purpose.

Free · Five short emails, one a day

Get Unstuck is a free five-day email series on what to do first in your house.

It walks you through the one question that finally tells you which project comes next — and which ones can wait without anything falling apart.

All you need is one page — paper, or the notes app on your phone. By the end of the week every project is out of your head and named, sorted by what would actually change your Tuesday, and the one at the top has a budget version and a dream version under it. A plan you made, for your actual house.

  • Day 1 — The one question that actually has an answer
  • Day 2 — Not the biggest project. The right one.
  • Day 3 — How one cabinet ended a two-year standoff
  • Day 4 — About that AI rendering
  • Day 5 — Your next right step

Questions

What homeowners ask before they book.

Straight answers, including the ones that might talk you out of it.

Do we have to get on a call?

No — not one. There are no Zoom meetings and no phone calls. You send photos and fill out a questionnaire on your own time, and your plan comes back with a recorded video walkthrough. If you have questions after, we sort them out by message.

How long does it take?

About a week from the day your questionnaire and photos are complete. I reply to messages within two business days. There's no waiting for an appointment slot, because there's no appointment.

Do I get 3D renderings?

Not with Remix Clarity™. You get a written plan, layout guidance, and a video walkthrough — not contractor-ready drawings, elevations, or final renderings. Custom renderings live in the one-on-one tier. I'd rather say that plainly than have you expect a picture.

What if my layout is strange?

Then you're exactly who this is built for. Odd walls, pass-throughs, windows in the wrong places — those constraints are what make a design specific to you instead of generic. Cassie's living room had no real wall for a TV. That was the whole puzzle.

Do I need a big budget?

No. The best solution is rarely the most expensive one, and the plan starts with what you already have. The fee is the same whether you're spending $10,000 or $50,000, so I have no reason to point you at the pricier option.

Do you work outside Massachusetts?

Yes — the design work is fully virtual and serves homeowners anywhere. Separately, my husband Mitch runs hands-on handyman services, and that side is Western Massachusetts only. The two aren't connected unless you're local.

What's the refund policy?

All sales are final once work has begun, which is why the terms are linked before you buy rather than after. Remix Clarity™ doesn't include revision rounds — it includes one round of clarification questions once you've read the plan.

Is this for one room, or my whole house?

Either. Your budget version, dream version and remix can cover a single room or every project on your list — whatever you actually need. The kitchen on this page was one room in a plan that also sorted out a laundry room, a hallway and an unused space by the front door. Bringing the whole list is where this earns its keep, because the order things happen in is the expensive part to get wrong.

What do I actually send you?

Photos of the rooms from the angles I ask for, a few measurements, and honest answers to a questionnaire about how your family really uses the space. That's it. No drawings, no Pinterest board required — though if you have one, send it, it tells me what you're drawn to.

Why not just use AI?

Use it — it's fast and the pictures are lovely. But AI answers the question you asked. It never saw your house, it can't tell you that the real problem is the hallway, and nothing happens to it if it's wrong. That's the gap I fill.

Susie on her farmhouse porch in a teal tee, smiling.

Where do I start?

Start where you are. Both doors lead to a clearer home.
